  • Hands down THE MOST STUNNING VENUE I’ve EVER been to!

This is the most beautiful, comfortable, and classiest space in all of the Red, and honestly, ranks top of the list of all the places I’ve been in the world. The breathtaking views, classic wooden architecture, and wide-open yet warm interior of the Red River Chateau make it an incredible place where you can make memories that will last a lifetime. I celebrated a wedding here and the scenery from every direction was just jaw-droppingly gorgeous. You couldn’t take a bad photo here if you tried. Not even just from the outside, where you can see miles of forests and clouds above the trees, but the beautiful landscape is perfectly framed through enormous windows from the comfort of the inside. I stayed in one of the rooms, which was comfortable, clean, and stocked with all the amenities you could possibly need. One of my favorite features was the cozy loft, with two picturesque window-side daybeds where I honestly could have spent the entire day just gazing out through the huge windows at the scenery. It was beautiful in the sun, it was beautiful in the rain, and every day here felt like living in a mystical forest fantasy. Even from miles away, the Chateau is unforgettable, with its iconic red roof rising against endless green trees that makes it look almost too picturesque to be real. Then you arrive and somehow it is even more impressive up close. Every detail of the chateau feels thoughtfully designed to be both elegant and comfortable, without ever distracting from the spectacular landscape surrounding it. I never wanted to leave; I started imagining how amazing this place would be for a future reunion, celebration, or getaway so that I could come back again. I have no complaints other than my time here being too short and wishing I could have checked out more of the nearby climbing places during my time here. If you want the most perfect place in the Red, it’s here!

The setting

On the rim of a sandstone gorge, on the quiet side of the Red River Gorge

The house is built on a sandstone ledge at the edge of a cliff line in Zoe, in Lee County. From the far rim you can see it sitting above the rock walls; from the deck you look down into hardwood forest that turns gold and orange in October.

That puts you on the southern side of the Red River Gorge region. The climbing preserves around the Motherlode are about 15 minutes away by car, Natural Bridge State Resort Park and Miguel's Pizza in Slade are about 25–30 minutes, and the Red River Gorge Scenic Byway ends near Zachariah, just up the road.
